Nike unveiled the first Air Max line of premium sneakers and apparel last week, and now it’s getting a boost from the brand’s new CEO.
Mark Parker is taking on the title of Nike’s next CEO.
Parker joined the company in September and was a former Nike executive.
His first executive order was to overhaul the company’s design and sourcing strategy, and Parker was a major factor in bringing Nike to market.
The brand also expanded its distribution footprint, launching a new U.S. store in Los Angeles in August.
In a press conference on Monday, Parker spoke about his goals as CEO, which include creating a “world class brand” and focusing on quality, performance and value.
Nike has become an increasingly important part of Parker’s life, as he has led the company through some of its darkest days.
Parker will be expected to help build a brand that he says can compete with the likes of Adidas, Converse and Reebok.
The new Nike CEO will be announced on Wednesday, according to a report by CNBC.
