Zuni Sportswear has announced the layoffs of its workforce.
The company said it will cut 1,100 jobs across its supply chain and the global brand, which has a history of selling high-quality sports apparel, has been affected by the global economic crisis.
“The impact of the global financial crisis has been enormous,” Zuni CEO Alberto Paredes said in a statement.
“We are very sad to announce that our employees will be working in an office for the next few weeks.”
Delong Sportswears is an Italian company that makes sportswatches, gloves, accessories and apparel.
The brand’s range is also a favourite of American sports stars, with athletes such as Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant and LeBron James among its customers.
Its products include some of the most sought-after sports brands, including Adidas, Nike and Reebok.
It employs over 5,000 people globally and was one of the largest apparel manufacturers in the world by sales volume in 2016.
